The Mid-Winter meeting of the Florida Shrine Association was an outstanding success. The meeting was held at the Amara Shriners, the home of our President, Illustrious Sir, Michael A. Snitkin. Amara has always had a reputation for being the friendly Temple, and they sure rolled out the red carpet for all of our Divans and Nobles and their Ladies of Florida.

The meeting was held on October 31st and November 1st (Fri. & Sat.) we were all extremely honored by the presence of our Imperial Potentate, Imperial Sir M. Burton Oien and our Imperial Recorder, Imperial Sir Jack Jones. Also in attendance we were very honored to have two candidates for Imperial Outer Guard and their Ladies present for the weekend, Both making fine presentations at our Saturday business meeting. They are Illustrious Sir Jerry Gantt and his lady Lisa from Arabia Shriners of Houston, Texas, and Illustrious Sir Dale Strauss and his Lady Cheryl from Kem Shriners of Grand Forks, North Dakota. They are both very fine gentlemen - and the election in Denver at Imperial will be a tough one.

I must report that all the Florida Shrine Association Officers were present. We also had representation from (8) eight of our Shrine Centers. The meeting on Friday evening was held at the Marriott Hotel (headquarters for our convention next year) what a great turnout! Besides the welcomes by our officers and the Director General, Illustrious Sir, Donald Everett. We had a great membership program put on by Imperial Sir Jack Jones. We had words of welcome by our Imperial Potentate, Imperial Sir, M. Burton Oien, but he held his message for our Saturday morning meeting.

Saturday morning we met at the Amara Shriners and we had another very large attendance by the nobles and the Divans throughout Florida. Other than a short business meeting, reports of our officers we had reports on the convention next May 5,6,7,8,& 9, 2004.And I want to report that the progress is terrific . Our F.S.A. Housing Chairman, Reg Lawrence reported on the hotels, and all but one Temple have made their arrangements, and he was working on that. All of the Unit Association Banquets are arranged and the Competitions are all set and in place.

The Imperial Potentate Imperial Sir, M. Burton Oien made a great report to us telling about our hospitals and what is going on in Shrinedom. Everyone enjoyed his message and especially being able to see him. And I might mention they are wearing his pin proudly.

Nobles don’t miss our convention next year in Palm Beach Gardens, our Director General, Illustrious Sir Donald Everett and his committee are working very hard to make this the best for all of you and your Ladies. There is a lot being arranged for the ladies. Watch the Website (fla-shrine.org) and check with your recorder. We will be getting all information out just as quick as it is arranged. Much information is out already , the master schedule – information on the activities for the ladies will be out soon, and the information on the Golf tournament will also be out soon. Feel free to contact any of our officers if you need any information.

Your F.S.A. officers will again be attending the upcoming Temple meetings in January, February, and March.

All of my Officers and Myself and all of our Ladies wish each one of you a very “HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON!”

God Bless you, and God Bless America!!

Yours in the Faith,

Michael A. Snitkin, P.P. (Amara)
