2007 FSA Convention, Sarasota, Fl.
I would like to thank all of the FSA Temples and the Nobility
who participated on the recently concluded FSA Convention.
It was a resounding success and was made so by the attendees.
By plan we had a minimum amount of time scheduled for
meetings which enabled the Nobility to attend the various Unit
competitions. However, we only had three (3) Unit Associations
which had Representatives at the Business Session. Please insist
that your Unit Officers attend future meetings and to represent
your wishes and desires. This will be especially important at the
Winter Session as the purpose of that meeting is to offer and
discuss various changes and to decide on the need for change. No
one wants changes for the sake of change, but if change can be
beneficial to FSA they should be discussed and be presented for
consideration at the Annual Convention .
We had excellent participation by Units in the Parade, held at
Lakewood Ranch, and put on a good show. We were not over-
whelmed by the number of people in attendance, but those who did
enjoyed it. I would like to thank the Parade Marshall, Noble
Carroll Scribner, for planning the event and for personally
following thru on all details to insure that everything was done
properly and on time.
The Director General, Oscar Cloutier, and his Convention Staff,
did a great job in assuring that all bases were covered and that
targets were met. I will make no attempt to name the convention
staff as I know that I will miss someone and that is a risk I prefer
not to take. As a result, I wish to thank all members of the
Convention Committee for a job well done.
We were pleased to have two (2) Imperial Officers in attendance.
Imperial Sir Jack Jones , Imperial Recorder whom we all know
well, as he is in attendance at all of our Meetings. We all consider
Jack to be one of our own. The second Imperial Officer present was
Imperial Sir George Mitchell, High Priest & Prophet from Rameses
Temple, Toronto, Canada and his beautiful Lady Deanna
FSA has come back strongly from the hurricanes and inclusion with
the Imperial Session in Tampa. Attendance was seriously affected
by these events. I hope that many more of you will attend the 2008
Convention to be held at Bahia Temple, Orlando, Fl. Show your
support for FSA and Ill. Sir Doug Tomlinson, President FSA 2007-08.
I guarantee that you will not be disappointed
Finally, hats off to Ill. Sir Dale LaBell and Sahib Temple for the
great job they did in the planning and execution of all phases of the
Convention.
Yours in the Faith,
Ed Phillips, PP Sahib Shrine
President, Florida Shrine Assn. 2006-07
